Paxton10 maintenance contracts

Hardware-and-workflow PPM. Paxton handles cloud software; SEG handles everything physical.

Maintaining Paxton10, software is Paxton's job, the rest is ours

Paxton10 is cloud-managed, which means software updates, security patches and database backups are handled automatically by Paxton. That removes a category of maintenance work that exists on Net2. What it doesn't remove: physical hardware, fire-interface compliance, user-account hygiene, video retention sanity-checks, and the rest of the things that need a human on site. SEG Ltd provides Paxton10 maintenance contracts across London, Kent, Essex and Surrey covering all of that.

A typical Paxton10 maintenance contract focuses on what cloud automation doesn't handle: the BS 7273-4 fire interface (which depends on physical wiring and has to be tested by hand), the readers and lock hardware (which still wear out), the cameras (which need cleaning and physical inspection), and the user database (which fills up with leavers if nobody audits it). The contract gives you scheduled visits, a documented compliance record, and prioritised reactive cover when something physical does fail.

For multi-site Paxton10 deployments the contract also includes per-site state reviews via the cloud admin: which controllers are showing low signal strength, which cameras are using more bandwidth than expected, which users haven't badged in for 90 days and should probably be deactivated. We do this remotely between visits and surface findings monthly. Contact us for a contract quote.

What's included in a Paxton10 maintenance contract

Annual site visit

Engineer attends, walks every door, tests every reader, inspects every camera lens and housing, confirms lock release at each opening, and physically verifies the fire interface.

BS 7273-4 fire interface test

Tested and documented every visit. This is the most important physical compliance check on the system; cloud automation doesn't do it for you.

Video retention review

We check the actual recorded footage against your stated retention period. If you're paying for 30 days but only getting 14 because of bandwidth limits, we surface that and propose the fix.

User account audit

Active users reviewed; leavers identified and deactivated; access levels confirmed appropriate. Cloud admin makes this faster than Net2 but it still requires a human to decide.

Cloud state review

Controller signal strength, camera health, bandwidth utilisation, app version compliance, pulled from the Paxton10 admin and reviewed at the visit.

Priority reactive cover

Reactive callouts get same-day or next-working-day attendance for in-contract customers, with discounted labour and parts.

How a Paxton10 maintenance contract works

1. Initial site audit

Before the contract starts we audit the existing installation, physical state of every reader and camera, current cloud tenant configuration, user-account hygiene. Anything that needs remedial work is quoted separately.

2. Annual visits

Booked into our calendar a year in advance. Customer gets confirmation a week before. Documented sign-off after each visit including the BS 7273-4 fire-interface result.

3. Remote between visits

We pull cloud admin reports between site visits, typically monthly, flagging anything that looks off (controller signal degrading, unusual access patterns, bandwidth ceiling being hit).

Paxton10 maintenance FAQs

Yes, the software is Paxton's responsibility but the physical hardware, fire-interface compliance, and user-account hygiene aren't. None of those are automated. Without a contract those just don't happen, and the system slowly degrades.

Net2 maintenance includes Windows-side work (database backups, software updates, antivirus exclusions). Paxton10 maintenance doesn't, Paxton handles that in the cloud. So a Paxton10 contract is typically a bit cheaper, but the on-site portion is the same.

Yes, multi-site Paxton10 is one of the platform's strengths and one of our maintenance specialisms. One contract, consistent compliance reporting across all sites, single point of contact for your facilities team.

Yes, Paxton10 cameras are part of the same system and the same contract. Lens cleaning, physical inspection, recording verification, retention review.
